About the instructor: Olga is a highly experienced and qualified Russian language instructor with over a decade of experience teaching and tutoring students in the San Francisco Bay Area and online. She holds both an MA and a PhD in languages and and literature from the prestigious University of California, Berkeley, where she also taught for six years. Throughout her academic career, Olga has held various academic positions at American universities. She is passionate about teaching and has a deep understanding of the challenges that students face when learning a new language. Olga’'s teaching approach emphasizes a strong foundation in the fundamentals of Russian grammar and vocabulary, as well as practical communication skills that enable students to confidently navigate real-life situations in Russian-speaking countries. Her students consistently praise her ability to make complex concepts accessible and her patience and encouragement in guiding them towards fluency.
About the course: The Russian Beginner A1 course is appropriate for students who can read the Cyrillic alphabet, know how to have basic conversations about themselves in Russian, know the present and past tenses of regular verbs, and some Russian adverbs.
In this course, students will be introduced to the Russian Case system. They will learn Nominative and Accusative cases. Students will learn how to ask specific questions, how to describe people, and talk about likes and dislikes.
